Debt from 2001??

Hi,
Me and my family are looking to move to Australia in the next 5 years.
One of the terms of doing this is to be Debt free.
I have got my Experian credit report as my credit is not the best and I have noticed these is a Cabot Financial (UK) £943 debt on it from 2001 now I am 28 and this would make me 15 and still in school when this debt arose?
On looking at an Equifax credit report it says debt start date 27/01/2001 and the default date is 29/09/2008?
Couple of things.
1. I have no idea what this debt is.
2. Surely I wouldn't have been able to get credit of anysort at 15.
3. Shouldn't this have been written off?
Also I have an old Orange Mobile phone bill totalling £1362 which I contested as was miss led of the roaming charges and call charges from my visit to Australia in 2008 which is still showing on the report. What can I do about this?
Any help in to this would be great.
Thanks

Can't be yours then. Complain to Cabot and tell them if they don't remove it you will take them to the ICO and FOS and will ask to be awarded redress for the inconvenience and damage.Still rolling rolling rolling...... <

What are the ICO and FOS? and what is redress?
Should I do this via phone call, Email or letter?
Thanks0 -
ICO = Information Commissioner
FOS = Financial Ombudsman
On the mobile issue, did they agree that they had misinformed you about the roaming charges? If not did you take it to the Communications Ombudsman? You would need to dispute that as well if you want any chance of removing it from your report before the 6 years is up.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks and I have never had any thing more than Debt letters inc from companies that have bought the debt. Several calls made to them and not heard anything for a while0 -
The debts will fall off your report 6 years from the default dates even if you do nothing. As said, if you want them off sooner you will need to dispute them and complain formally.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
