Hi. My wife and I are moving to my mothers house soon with our two children to permanently live with her. My mother receives pension credit guarantee and I just want to know if my mother will lose any of it when we move in? I know she had to declare any changes but just wasn't sure. My mother owns her own home outright with I mortgage. Thanks

If she recieves the Severe Disability Premium as part of her Pension Credit (payable if she also gets DLA Care or Attendance Allowance) then she will lose this. Approx £60 per week.
If she gets help with her mortgage this will be affected as you will be classed as non-dependants.
Any council tax reduction she receives will also be affected. You will need to notify the local authority when you move in also.0 -
If your mum gets something like aa or dal care at middle/ high rate, there could be a premium called extra amount for severe disability, this would stop. It is around £59 per week, this could either kick her off the guarantee credit and onto savings credit only(if over 65) which means she loses all associate enitlement like free prescriptions, dental help etc. she would then have to go down the Hc1 help. Things like council help will be effected, or the worst is she loses pension credit althogher, you would need to look at her enitlement letter to see how it is made up. If none of that applies then no change to PC, but any council tax help would be effected0

Hi, she doesn't receive Any disability living allowance or anything like that. There is no mortgage. She gets free nhs dent care etc and she is over 70. I know she will lose council tax entitlement but didn't think her pension credit would be affected by non dependants moving in? Thanks for your advices0

As far as I know she would only have council tax benefit reduced and housing benefit ( which she doesn't recieve) but please tell me if I'm wrong. Thanks again0

Your circumstances will be disregarded for 26 weeks before her Council Tax Reduction is reduced/stopped due to non dependent deductions. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0
