I am starting college in september with my fees being paid for as we receive housing/council tax benefit.
I was hoping to go to uni the year after to do a 3 year sociology and criminology degree with that hopefully leading to a social worker 2 year course.
Does anyone know if i will be eligble for help with the fees. I am 37 with 2 children at school and a hubby that earns £7000 a year and we get a lot from child tax credits.
Im going to an open day at the uni on Saturday to find out some more info but dont want to waste their time if i cant afford it.
Thanks

Lisa, you will definately get help with your uni fees and you will also get grants and loans for help with your living expenses, so long as you haven't had finance for higher education before. Have a look at www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk, click on, 'I am planning to go into higher education', then 'calculate my entitlement.' This should give you an estimate as to what you may be entitled to, but still go to the uni open day, it will give you a feel for the place and there will also be finance experts to give you guidance. All the best.
