Do stairs (to the attic) in a bedroom declass it as a bedroom?

Pretty much as the title says. If a staircase is put in to one of 3 bedrooms to an attic (that out of interest didn't have building regs so can't be classed as another bedroom), does that mean that it can no longer be classed as a bedroom, rendering it, in effect, a 2 bedroom house?
Many thanks

Loft conversion without proper building regs? Can't be advertised as an extra bedroom when selling...0
