Hi guys, unfortunately got laid off last week but have already found another job but it's only minimum wage as a&p posed to the £9-£10 an hour I was on before.
I keep a house on my own, bills come to more than what I will now bring home, is there any help/benefits I can receive?ni already claim council tax benefit.

How many hours a week is it? I'm thinking you might scrape in for working tax credit if it is minimum wage and not slightly over. If you're single I think you need to be doing 30 hours pw to qualify, although you'll need to check that.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I'm 25, the wage is £6.31 and working 8-5 Monday-Friday. I'll assume a half hour lunch break in that.

i would also depend on how much you have already earned in this tax year.
it may well be that you wont be entitled until april.

If you pay rent, you might be entitled to Housing Benefit to cover part of it.

I'm looking at min wage jobs similar to yours and the benefits checker indicates that I would get no Tax Credits but should be entitled to around £2000-2500 a year in HB.
Mind you, I am 44 so entitled to one bedroom rate and the rental prices in my area are very high (my one bedroom flat is £595 a month and that is £200-250 BELOW the going rate )
Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!
