Mortgage for contractors, htb

Hi everyone
Looking for some advice on getting a mortgage but my husband is a contractor and has only been doing it for 6 months, he has been employed in the same job role for 13 years working offshore but has recently took a job at home in which he has had to set himself up as a limited company

Is there anyone who has got a mortgage in this situation or any recommendations for brokers that could help?

Does anyone know if we would be accepted for a help to buy equity loan on a new build?
We were hoping to buy a new build in about 6 months time, as they haven't started selling them yet priced at £300k

If it is impossible we are thinking of just waiting till next year when he will most likely be returning offshore as an employee again, but would really like to do the move sooner rather than later

Thanks

What's his daily rate and length of contract?

  • He is on £230 a day for 5 days, £345 Saturday & £460 working Sundays. He normally does 2 weeks at 7 days and then 1 week at 5 days rotation but he could do less or more if he wanted to, not sure if that makes any difference.
His contract lasts till march 2015 but but it could be extended it depends what work they get in as they build oil platforms
    Thanks

    It sounds fairly straightforward.

Assuming only minimum deposit and the 20% equity loan, you appear to need about £225k.

Any decent whole market broker should be able to help with this, subject to a decent credit history and no massive credit commitments to damage affordability.
