Ref your Samsung Galaxy Tab 3

If you switch your tablet on, and it fails to come on and remains seemingly lifeless, press the power AND volume button simultaneously for about 7 seconds. It then comes to life. Trust me, I have just done it with my 8" Samsung Galaxy Tab 3

Well...................You do need to take care as you are using the start of the factory reset procedure. (Fiddle a bit more and you will achieve a cleaned up tablet)

Usually if it will not come on - the battery is virtually flat - just put it on charge for minimum of 15 mins and it should come back to life, many tablets work in this way.

The power and volume button puts it into a special mode - not a normal condition.

Use that as a last resort - not the first.

As much as I bow to your knowledge and that maybe this was not the correct way, I would welcome the information as to what I should have done.

I didn't add that when I turned it off earlier in the day, there was well over 50% battery life left showing. It crossed my mind that maybe I hadn't switched it off and it had run down, hence connecting it to the power source. When there was no response there, I was unsure if I should leave it connected or not and if in doing so, cause harm.

PS, I picked up this information after googling > YouTube

Often a two button or three button press from cold put the product to recovery mode or download mode .
But this depends upon make and OP advice may be totally wrong for another brand ,
First advice on any dead tablet would be to press and hold the power on button and likewise if tablet is stuck .

Now I'm wondering if the YouTube video was for a different model?. As for holding the power button down on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, how long should it be necessary to hold the power button down?. I'm wondering if a minute for example would be harmful.

All it would do on a working phone is recycle the power and should do no harm .
Samsungs recovery mode is from off hold down power and volume down until splash screen and release .
Or if unit has a home screen button then its hold down home + vol down + power and release at boot screen .

Problem can be for some brands holding down xyz buttons can factory restore wiping all data .

You say :- Samsungs recovery mode is from off hold down power and volume down until splash screen and release

I say :- it seems I didn't do anything wrong then. I then add TFFT !

I think you just need to edit the title of the thread to 'If your Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 won't come on....' rather than the blanket statement you have made that could give the impression that the same advise applies to all tablets ;)

    Yes you did.

You posted this thread telling us your method as being a trustworthy way for tablet owners to boot them into life when we now realise we actually cannot trust you at all!

Yes, that's something I wish I'd done and had looked to see if it could be changed. If you know how, maybe you will advise me please. You will see I've "tweaked" the original post.
