Council tax issue...

Hi all,

I hope I have put this in the right place but I can't find a better location!

I have just checked my bank balance and found that I have paid my standard monthly council tax bill. I was under the impression that you don't have to pay council tax in January? Has this been changed now?

my council collect April-January if you choose to pay over 10 months, so we have Feb and March free

Most collected Apr-Jan inclusive but they are now allowed to collect Apr-Mar, ie over the full 12 months.

They must have sent you a statement.

Most councils adopt this payment of 10 months from April to January, which is 10 months. February and March, no payment.


I pay mine over 12 months so monthly it is a little bit less to pay and easier to budget.

It'll say on the schedule of payments they sent you at the start of the new season.
