Deafult mistake by Santander - how long to remove?

Hi all,
Would appreciate some advice off anyone who may know the answer to this -
Had a two hour long argument with Santander after they registered a default against an old bank account I'd settled and moved on from. I took out a mortgage with them two years ago and registered as my home address but they continued sending letters to my old address that were never forwarded on.
Anyway cut a long story short - they were chasing me for £380~. They have now agreed this was a mistake and told me they will clear the default. They've removed £340~ worth of charges leaving me just the rogue DD that took it into the overdraft in the first place. Result!
Question is - how long does the removal of the default take? They agreed to remove it on roughly the 20th December. It's still showing on my Experian report.
Many thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan
Most lenders refresh the data they provide to Experian and co. on a monthly basis. I'm not sure what time of the month these updates take place, however, and that may vary from lender to lender. I'm assuming you subscribe to Credit Expert or a similar tracking package, in which case you should be alerted to the update as soon as it takes place.

Hi Dennis,
Many thanks for your reply.
Hopefully I should see this come off at the end of the month then. Had been wondering why I was failing on credit for something as simple as a mobile phone contract!
Thanks

Lender should be able to send an urgent update outside the normal monthly reporting cycle if they can be bothered to, which in theory I think could show up on reports within a couple of days? So presumably Santander don't consider this urgent and a monthly update hasn't happened yet, or have failed to send an update. Worth querying with them anyway I would think, as Santander are notoriously bad at sorting these things.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Completely agree Fermi,
It's their mistake and yet it's me who has to suffer the negative effects of having a default on my file for several months
To be honest, at the time they told me I was far too delighted to have 'won' as such that I wasn't all that bothered with the time it would take to remove. I'd read some horror stories on here about Santander and trying to get defaults removed so I wasn't holding out much hope.
