Hello I am new to money saving expert but feelmthis is the place to be to get the suoport and advice I need to get my family and I outof debt in 2014.
We are a 3 person family
I have contacted stepchange with a detailed breakdown of income and out goings and we still have more gojng out than coming I plus £ 27000 of debt between us. We are looking at a debt relief order to clear what we will never be able to afford to pay in the hope that in 12 months we will finally be able to sleep properly and breathe a little more easily.
over the last few months I have taken every step I can to reduce our outgoings. I have changed insurance company for the car. I have cancelled our sky and gone to pay as you go for the mobiles. I only travel to the city from our village when my husband is gojng in for work. We spend 250 a month on fuel because of the distance we live and steve is trying to get a job closer to home. I dont work currently because isabella has some health issues that make it difficult to leave her with anyone, she also requires a high fruit veg and fibre diet and limited fatty or fried foods and has to be constantly promoted to drink as she has to consume a minimum or 1.2 ltrs of fluid every day. So I am home looming after her and am not entitled to any help that I know of. So we get my husbands salary of 1000 plus basic tax credits and child benefit. I am making crocheted animals and selling them but cant count on that as a regular income so my challenge is to do all our household shopping on 250 a month, and find some way to earn some extra money without leaving Isabella.
any help ideas advice and support greatly welcomed here I want to have a normal life again and not worry about who is knocking on the door anymore. The debts I am paying off will take a long time and I accept that it wont all be wiped off and we have to live within our means and I am 100% committed to making a better 2014 for my little family.
sorry for the long thread thanks roxanne

Just two small points:
1) Debt relief orders, I believe, are appropriate for debts of up to £15000
2) You have provided, in addition to your own, the names of your husband and daughter, even your dog! Is this wise on an open forum?0 -
Thank you for your reply
our debts aren't joint znd we each owe less thsn 15000 and have been advised by stepchange to apply for a debt relief order each for our debts.
having been on other support forums sharing information abiut family has never been an issue and didnt think it would be here. I have not given information about my address or other personal details but will take iut names as inappropriate!!!0 -
Welcome on board. I have learnt so much from hanging out on here.
Good luck with your diary. Maybe post a statement of affairs and the helpful folk on here will advise you where to cut back. 250 seems a lot food front, can see that probably spend a lot on drinks/ fruit for yr daughter maybe if you haven't already try cheaper supermarkets lidls/aldi.
Will pop in and see how you are getting along.

Thank you for your comments
spoke with stepchange yesterday evening and due to a slihht change it has been decided bankruptcy is our best option so we are now trying to raise the funds to do that and then get the forms filled in and wait for our court date.
Finally feel like im getting somewhere though and there is light at the end of the tunnel will pop over to the bankruptcy page and see what advice I can pick up there
thanks again0 -
As others have said, I would take out your names unless you are perfectly happy with people you know coming upon this thread as clearly there's enough information for acquaintances to identify you. Just hit the edit button on your posts.0
