When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

Agree, once the bigger stuff is done we are all plodding along.
Just £18,000 left to pay on a long mortgage.
No credit card debt.
Today we are giving out more Christmas presents as we are going visiting family.
Proud this year to only posted 1 card and 1 gift. To separate people.
I rarely send letters and rarely use the phone.
I think the house phone needs to go in June when £120 phone line contract runs out.
I think it daft to have the house phone for x1 free call to family at the weekend. That is the only call ever made and we can do that on a mobile phone with free minutes.
I send text on my PAYG phone sometimes.
We have freeview on all the TV's so will only need the computer line to be paid for. Anyone recommend a cheap contractor?
I went to Tesco at the weekend with adult DD. I used loads of vouchers and that helped bring the bill down a little.
I have been shopping around for a large turkey crown for Wednesday.
Tesco's only had one that included brown meat and stuffing. Marks was a high price for a small amount of meat.
I bought the large turkey crown with only white meat from Iceland in the end £15.
I now have a stack of free papers, free magazines to read as well as the free books on my kindle. No need to buy reading stuff.
I went in our M&S outlet store yesterday and splashed out on a top. pj bottoms and nightdress all reduced price and used a gift card I had for my birthday a while back. So no cost to me.
As ever, keep turning the lights off and unplugging to keep fuel bill down.
A simple life with as few out costs as possible is the aim I am still working on. Winning ways as annual contracts come to an end and so we plod on.
Have a good day everyone, although it is raining again! The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Hi, I just wanted to pop in and wish you all a merry christmas. I haven't been posting for a while for one reason or another but hoping to jump firmly back on the bandwagon!
My small things today are:
Mainly going to work later.
Eating out of stores.
A bit of cleaning.
Enjoying the moment:money:0 -
I need to finish off the last Christmas presents and wrap, wrap, wrap.CC [STRIKE]2771[/STRIKE] 14190

Took over £5 worth of 2ps and 1ps to Tesco that I've collected through the year, popped them into the CoinStar machine, and using the converted voucher along with £2 worth of Tesco receipt vouchers (for the difference in cost of shopping elsewhere) saved about £7 off the Christmas turkey!
Merry Christmas all x:www: House Deposit = 100% Purchase Fees = 44%0
