Toilet Cistern

My toilet cistern is no longer filling up after a flush, if I fill it with water and flush it works so I know it is not the flush. There is a thin spray of water spraying out of the top of the float part. Some research says it might be the diaphragm? Is this easy to replace? Any help appreciated.

Not 100% sure from this but if you have a classic valve and ball c0ck arrangement they are very easy to fix/replace. When you flush, water should be released via the valve filling up the cistern. If not, you might first try isolation the valve, removing it, cleaning the guts and refitting. Ball valves are dirt cheap to replace as are the diaphragms. Ten minute job if you can isolate the supply and have a couple of adjustable spanners.0

If you have a Torbeck type valave assembly

Then you may have water coming out of the end with 4 squares on it which may be the membrane inside
If so go down your local plumbers merchants with said assembly or look on ebay or similar and plenty available. Either replace whole assembly for around £12 or just new part or even try cleaning it all out as may not be split just stuck with bits of grit and such
Also look on youtube for how to type videos if stuck0
