When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Morning  Happy Wednesday! Still feeling very glum :( battling with wanting to not go to work, but as soon as I do I get so submersed in work it distracts me, which is a great thing I guess. Hope this mood lifts soon :(

    Morning all
I see it is wet outside again! no point putting the washing out as it is just as wet when I bring it back in. Wetter if it has rained.
Hanging wet clothes around the clothes airers again. Trying to keep the electric bill down and not use the tumble dryer.

Just washed hair and now letting it dry naturally.

To do - grocery shop online

I was going to look around the shops in town today buy have decided I have enough for stocking fillers - so staying away from shops and spending on things that people will just unwrap and shove in a drawer.

Indoor gardening = watered plants. Our Christmas cactus is in full flower and one of the amrilas bulbs.

Dinner = cold chicken and veg.

Daily surveys to do. I have a few £10's now, just not asked for them yet.

Still reading free paper, books and magazines I have.

Craft - knitting my cardigan. It is white with flecks of blue and green.

So we continue in our own way with little spending and getting past the cold days of the season.
I have to read the meters today. Hopefully less than last weeks £28 for 7 days. I think the recent fuel rise is not helping.
Done - £27.30 for this weeks fuel bill. = 3 bed semi.
    Have a good day all.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for starting us off DNMS, I am off Friday but back in on the 30th for the main job, unfortunately working the 24th, 27th & 31st at the second job...debating if I want to continue this or not! I usually like doing just my Friday shift now but I really hate having to work Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve!

I'm feeling a bit low today, we will not be debt free by the end of the year as planned because we have gone OTT for Christmas...we've been good for so long & just cracked. :( It's not the end of the world as we should be debt free just a month later, so by the end of January, but I really wanted to start 2014 afresh!

    Today's plan:-
    • Making use of free water & food at work - lots left over from the xmas buffet!
    • Staying in for most of my lunch break to avoid spending but popped to town to pick up a birthday card, 59p.
    • Dinner from meal plan - Spag bol
    • Charging phone at work
    • Check online banking
    • Enter some comps
    • Do some surveys
    • Declutter & flylady
    • Heating on low, fleecey dressing gowns on
    • Debate applying for another job (less money, more interesting work though)
    • Continue with the DIY this evening
    • Enter a few more comps
    • Wrap some presents
    • Payday today, need to transfer money over to the joint account for next month's bills so we know not to touch that account & we'll be fine all of January!
    • Pay off some of the credit card & update sig
    • Attend appointment for laser hair removal, paid for on Groupon a few months ago
    • Have a think about my goals for next year, some of which will be MSE!
Hope you're all ok & have a great MSE day x
    :idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57
    :dance:Current Debt: £0 :j
    100% paid off!
 Savings Goal for November 2016: £5000
    :D Current Savings: £1176.24 _party_
    23.52% Saved!

    Hello Pernicious
I know what you mean about spending at Christmas.WE have cut back even more this year. If who the gifts are for do not like it tough!

I spent mostly in Debenhams online sale and Amazon.

I was going to go into town today and spend more but my head over rules my heart as usual and I am keeping to what i have got.
