Which car to buy? Old car possibly written off

Hi, had an accident old car is probably a write off so started looking at cars to buy. Never owned a German car before so was thinking of going German this time

Here are the option please tell me which one you would go for?

Bmw 5 series M Sport possibly 2009 3.0L petrol, 50k miles £12000
or similar car dashboard is bland no entertainment or anything inside

Bmw 7 series older version pre 2010, cost £11k-£15k less then 70k on clock, 3.0 diesel, lots of toys inside, huge car beast!

Bmw 7 series 2010 facelift model so the newer dashboard etc... everything same as above but £20k

or Bmw x5, 2009 model facelift again (hate the rubber on pre 2009) not as much of a beast as the bmw 7 series but does ok etc costs £22k

anyone here driven a 7 series before? how different does it compare to 5 series? how difficult is manoeuvre around shopping centre etc. finding parking space etc

Not a lot of difference driving them. Parking spaces need to be a bit bigger and you give way when its tight going or lose mirrors. But its not a lot of difference.

What may shock you. Servicing costs.. Have you compared the service price on the cars your looking at?

Its OK having lots of toys until they start to fail. Then the main dealer wallet pulling tool comes into play.

X5 to me says i wanted a Range Rover but had to settle for this.

Also running costs. My x5 cost £250 a corner for tyres, and went through 6 a year, so thats £1500 in tyres alone. Even though it was a 3.0d it only did 28mpg, and took £138 to fill it (which i once emptied in 4 days)

Personally i'd get an approved used one with the full proper BMW years warranty and extend it each year.

Bills of £3000 - £4000 are not unusual on any of these cars when something goes wrong,

Also, look at the new F10 5 series. Came out from memory 2010 / 2011.
