Can this be claimed for depression which is being treated with medication and counselling and is effecting a partner who doesn't work or does it have to be the person who is working and claiming tax credits who can only claim the element .

will look through it , it isn't the money that is a concern it is the nhs exemption certificate which would help with getting the medication as it is very expensive also would help with some new glasses and dental treatment .

The medical condition itself won't be enough. The person also needs to get or have recently received a qualifying disability benefit as well.

As others have said, the element only applies to the person working.
