Advice please

 I love my job, I love the people I work with and have a good relationship with my bosses who own the small business I work for (4 days a week - 32 hours), but I need to earn more money and there is not any extra hours available where I am. So I applied for another full time job and have got an interview next tuesday at 9.30 but just couldn't bring myself to tell them today as we are all treated like family and to be honest I will hate to leave them. Help and advice please from any bosses out there or employees who've been in a similar position.

    Hi there
Its difficult isnt it ?! Loyalty etc etc
I would wait until you have been to your interview and see how you get on first before you say anything. How long have you been working for your present company??
I know it sounds selfish but you have to think of No1 and do what you need to do, and I am sure they will understand and you never know they may give you a pay rise if you tell them you are leaving!
Let us know how you get on!

Just a thought, is there any part time work you could do in your area to boost your income if you love your job that much, that is worth something as not alot of people have that!

Honesty is the best policy in this situation. If you tell them that you LOVE your job and HATE the prospect of moving elsewhere, but that you need more hours, it gives the boss the opportunity to see whether extra hours can be 'found' now or in the future.

You dont give any indication of what type of job it is that you're doing. I am assuming that it is a poorly-paid, pretty unskilled job - if that is the case, then I will just throw in the point for consideration that working tax credit is payable to those working 30 hours or more per week if their salary is sufficiently low as to make them eligible. I will also mention that if you do find yourself eligible for some WTC - then keep detailed records - just in case they decide they have overpaid at some point to prove you were doing your bit to only have what you were eligible for.
