Hi All!
Just moved into a house with the nastiest oven - don't think they've EVER cleaned it BUT>>>>>>>>>>> I cant afford to replace it now.
Mr Muscle/Oven Pride/ caustic soda - nothing!
Can anyone out there suggest anything I can try?
Thanks in advance!

You can get the parts you can take out eg the griddle clean by soaking it in hot water with biological washing powder ideally over night0

Cleaning ovens, however dirty, is simple if you are prepared to be patient:
1) make a solution of 10mg of sodium bicarbonate in 500ml of water;
2) put in spray bottle and spray oven liberally once or twice a day;
3) keep doing this for a week (you can use the oven in the meantime since sodium bicarb is non-toxic unlike caustic soda);
4) gradually the burnt on grease will dissolve and sink to the bottom of the oven (yes, it's messy, but just ignore it);
5) after a week, clean out oven with cloth soaked in hot soapy water (shelves can be similarly cleaned in the sink);
6) repeat for as many weeks as necessary;
7) it does work, is relatively pleasant, takes very little of your time, but does take persistence.0
