When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Morning  Happy Friday :j Another day and then it's the weekend at 5pm

DFW things for today:

* checked banking - no nasty surprises :T
* did vsp & will update sig

    Morning all,
Have got off to a good start, though not the NSD I'd hoped for, as have just ordered mr f an extra birthday present......these people who will insist on being born the same month as Christmas.....what costly individuals they are!
    A few moneysaving bits today:
    -Shared bath water.
-Washed hair with the (very good!) free shampoo & conditioner I've been sent to test.
-Let hair get almost dry before finishing off with dryer, to save enrgy while ensuring I don't spend the next couple of days looking like I've been yanked backwards through a spiny hedge.
-Cleaned house using minimal products as usual.
-Firmed up next week's meal plans & wrote shopping list. (10 x dividend points at our Co-op tomorrow, so may also take Christmas food list too for a few more items)
-Postman brought Co-op letter with annual Christmas dividend bonus - £76 for us this year - will be paid into little Co-op account which we use for funding festival tickets (as that way, it feels like we are getting them for free)
    -Did a few surveys.
-Dinner from freezer tonight Pot luck night....i.e whatever you fancy/or can find! Jacket potato with beef stew for mr f, home-made spicy chickpea burger in bun for me (I need space for festive baking).
-House not as cold today, as the horrendous gales yesterday contributed massively to the draughts. No heating going on until 6pm. I want to finish some knitting this afternoon, while watching a couple of programmes but I find a hot water bottle tucked up behind my back is fantastic for keeping warm.
-Make fudge to take tomorrow night when we go to friends' Christmas do. (Will put in little box - recycled of course - & tart up with ribbon, etc, & I won't eat ANY......except for testing purposes, of course....)
ziggy - A very good friend of mine has the same issues with her Mum. They visit daily & do all the jobs on the massive long lists she creates for them, but there are still umpteen calls. If she finally has nothing to ring about, she rings & says 'Did you just call me? I thought I heard the phone'. It's difficult, as I want to support them, but sometimes, I can't help feeling that they pander to this behaviour, but as they say, how can they know that the next call won't be an emergency? It's very difficult & I do sympathise.
Oh well........think I'll have an early lunch break, then get on with the fudge.
    Love to all,
    foxgloves xx

    Hi All,

Payday for me today so I've paid a bit extra off my credit card.
Also, planning to eat in tonight rather than get a takeaway as I would have done in the past.

    Have a good one all.

    Hi guys

I've been haemorrhaging money I don't yet have and feeling a bit flat about it all.

Got our house valued yesterday - hoping to make about £8k-10k on it so that's good. :j

Going out tonight with £20 and not spending any more!! Going to a nice bar with lots of mulled apple juice/wine (friend is preggers so she's on the apple juice - I'll have her share of wine ;) ) so hoping to take it easy.

Have put the slow cooker on so it's ready when we get in - we're not ending up in a curry house or ordering take away!!

Got a few bargainous Christmas pressies - they kinda cancel out the couple that weren't so bargainous, right?! Overall I'm quite pleased

La E - Unfortunately there's nothing like moving house for money leaking like mad from budgets. When we bought this place, we were definitely pre LBM. It'll have to be different next time we do it!
