Employment after DRO
Hi guys,
Looking for abit of advice really. I was entered into a DRO in Sept last year, i have been discharged from it as its been over 12 months. At the time i was employed and had been with that company for 6 years (insurance), i was made redundant 3 weeks ago and have been seeking other employment. In the past week ive had 2 people from recrutiment agencies call me and ask me if im intrested in these specific roles. Of course i was, the jobs seemed really interesting then BAM!! - we need to credit check you? Why? Ive never had this before? Is this what im going to get for the next 5 years? For anyone interested the roles were to do with insurance claims.
Has anyone else had similar? Since when did they start credit checking? Or have they always done this?
Thanks for reading

Hello there,
Sorry to learn about the situation, it's very frustrating. I applied for a job with a large well-known bank back in 2006 but failed the credit check so I feel your pain! It was their loss and National Debtline's gain!
I think there has always been a degree of scrutiny depending on the job role, and it certainly seems that there is more of it going on these days than there ever used to be. Most jobs in financial services/insurance seem to have the credit referencing requirement it seems.
Now that the DRO has finished there should be greater scope for you to find work, I just hope that you can find a firm that might take more of an objective approach.
Best wishes,
