BoS Platinum Balance Transfer Card

Last month my current CC deal expired and I was looking to balance transfer to another card. Having used the 'soft' search on here I was recommended (via MSE) the above card.

On the evening of Friday 1st November I applied online to get the card and got as far as being accepted with a pre-approved limit. I had difficulties putting in the details for my balance transfer and eventually got a web page which said the session had timed out and I was to try again. I tried again a few hours later in the early hours of the Saturday 2nd November and put in the details to be told that as I had applied for a CC in the last 30 days they couldn't currently consider a new application.

Having not heard anything from BoS either by email, phone or post I contacted BoS by telephone to be told that no application had been received and I would need to wait 30 days. I did enquire if no application had been received then why wait the 30 days to be told "technically you did submit an application" and BoS "would welcome my reapplication in 30 days". Fast forward to yesterday and I applied again to get the same box about receiving an application in the last 30 days and when I tried today, got the same thing!

A couple of points for clarity:
  • What constitutes a completed application? The T&C suggest I get up to 3 months to complete the Balance Transfer
  • How long is 30 days
  • Having made 4 applications now (1 original and 3 further on the 02/11, 02/12 and 03/12) am I in danger of being refused for making too many applications.
I'll try to pop into branch today but appreciate that online offers and phone offers may be different and the branch may be unable to assist anyway.

Any thoughts?

    How many full credit searches have BoS made with Experian?
    You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)
  • Just a wee update to my OP and to reply to wiseshark

    I managed to speak to someone at HBOS CC telephone yesterday. They advised me that an application was made on the 1st November and accepted with a pre-approved limit, however the application was not complete. The application was then suspended on the 3rd November.

    Had I phoned in between the 1st and 3rd I would have been able to proceed with the application on phone, as I waited a few days the result is that I have to wait 30 days from the 3rd November. I was not advised about this date when I phoned otherwise I would have waited until the 4th December.

    As I made applications on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th I now need to wait ANOTHER 30 days (5th January) before I can apply again. BoS advised that only 1 full credit search would have been carried out by their credit reference companies, I am just 'banned' from proceeding with further applications.

    I was advised that I could apply for other BoS 'non online' products but the balance transfer period is not as attractable. Quite frustrating but I suppose its only another month.
