I keep getting letters from a debt collection agent telling me i owe £202 for something i have confirmation i paid off years ago, I've forwarded the documents to them stating this repeatedly but still get letters/phone calls weekly because they say the debt is still outstanding on their system. Well I've had enough, i know its been paid, i have the proof, they have the proof, so out of anger I've written a letter stating that they must stop contacting me or i will charge them £10 per phone call £100 per letter i read and reply to sent recorded to them. I don't think i would have a leg to stand on claiming my charges but worth a try.

You possibly stand some chance of this being enforceable if the letter is worded correctly. What you have little chance of enforcing is £100 per letter, a court would call that an unreasonable "admin" fee for opening a letter.0

Hi,
Best way to deal with them is to tell them to stop contacting you, as you have, then if it persists write a letter of complaint to the financial ombudsman service, you must allow the business concerned to respond first, but sounds like they have already responded to you, so send it now, for every complaint the FOS receive about a particular company, if its more than 3 complaints a year, they get charged a "referral fee" by the FOS, currently stands at £500, so the £200 quid there chasing goes west, and costs em even more, and this is before your complaint even gets dealt with, so if you wanna hurt them in there wallets, do as above, it may give you a little bit of satisfaction knowing you've got one over them :TI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
