I work for a community organisation and our project 'Cycle South Brum' has made the television finals of The People's Millions to win £50,000 next Tuesday (26th November)!

We want to set up a cycle hub in south Birmingham where people can borrow free bikes to get to work, get active or cycle as a family, but we need to win the public vote to make this happen.

However, the voting telephone number will be a secret until the day – lines will be open between 9am and midnight, and everyone can vote up to 10 TIMES! Calls cost 11p from a landline and more from mobiles.

ITV have been out to film us already - our clip will air on the day (ITV Central News, 6pm), where viewers will hear how the project will help many people and have a lasting effect.

To make it simple, if you sign up at https://www.cyclesouthbrum.co.uk, we'll send you a free email/text alert with the voting phone number when it's announced. We'll also share the number on the website, https://www.facebook.com/cyclesouthbrum and https://www.twitter.com/cyclesouthbrum.

If we win, people will be able to borrow FREE bikes on a daily or longer-term basis, for example:
  • Help your children get more active (especially important with 1 in 4 local children leaving primary school obese)
  • Borrow a bike so you can join your children on a family bike ride
  • Fit exercise into your daily routine, and improve your health and well being
  • Trial cycling to work before committing to buying your own bike
  • Struggling to afford bus fares or petrol costs? Can't afford to get to a new job before being paid at the end of the month? You'll have the freedom to travel cheaply without being limited to bus routes and timetables
  • Do your part for the environment and enjoy the improved cycle paths that are coming as part of Birmingham Cycle Revolution
  • Free training if you've never ridden a bike, haven't cycled in a while or just need a confidence boost
  • Maybe you already have your own bike gathering dust in the shed? We can check your bike over and teach you how to carry out simple repairs yourself
Please, please help us spread the word and vote on the day - thank you!
