Hi All
Has anyone invested or know about Earthport shares? You can buy them at roughly 20p per share. Been told it's a good buy but don't know much?
Opinions appreciated

Sorry to sound boring, but whether or not a single stock is a good buy depends on your own circumstances just as much as its.
Are you sure they said "a good buy" and not "a goodbye" ?
It doesn't pay a dividend, so it all depends on whether or not it has something big in the pipeline. It had a big input of investment capital, but that was back in May it seems. So I guess it depends on the knowledge/reliability of whoever suggested it to you.
A punt or speculative purchase at best otherwise. So very risky.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0 -
Thank you for your reply - it was suggested as one of the good buys on share centre. I haven't read much into it so I guess I should do.0

Is it? Crikey, that's where I was just looking at its charts. In 2002 it was something like £80 per share and it's now 20p!
Can't see a Buy recommendation for it on there.
Found it.
Brokers have been labelling it Buy since 2009, since when its price has halved. AND it's currently making a loss in spite of having £10m pumped into it earlier this year...I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0 -
Losses going up every year. Looks like a £9m loss against £3m of revenue last year (only looked very quickly - don't quote me :-) ).
Signed a deal with American Express, but that was back in May.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0 -
Maybe not such a good buy then. Looking to invest on something in the low share price - few companies there on that list - shares between 20-50p
Yes read that regarding American Express also - don't think it's made any improvements for them0 -
No. Seriously makes you wonder why the Buy recommendation then.
For me, the trouble with very low value shares is that spotting the ones that will do well is only really possible once they ar already climbing, and then it's probably too late to do really well from them. The market always beats you too it.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0 -
If you are doing it through Share Centre, are you familiar with it? Remember the buying and selling costs will take a chunk of your return, unless you buy quite a large value of the stock. And that means swallowing quite a big risk on one of these little minnows.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0

Very true - will have to see. Will keep a look out if any interesting ipo's coming soon.
Merlin and Infinis have just gone.0 -
I bought a few penny shares over the years that were said to be a "good buy" - they all collapsed and vanished into oblivion along with my original investment:(
Penny shares are not for the faint hearted, you have to be prepared to wave goodbye to your money. I suppose the odd one comes good, but that is the exception:)Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Very True!
Any suggestions on any investment? U heard of urenco, maybe coming soon (ipo)0
