ARGOS - avoid rip off merchant

Please avoid Argos at all costs, I reserved an item for collection in store, was on special offer. Went to pick up 3 days later as requested, item given to me in battered box. Took to car and opened box to check all okay, realised this was old model predecessor to the one I ordered. Went back to shop, totally useless, could order another one but not guarantee the same old model wouldn't turn up, offered refund, not what I wanted as I needed the item fairly urgently and had waited 3 days already. False advertising as its worst. Customer services useless, not interested in looking after customer, all they offer is take it back for refund, no apology for my wasted time and their blatant lies. Never again use Argos, you have been warned. I have sent all the details to Trading Standards including screen shots from their website, awaiting their response.

Overreaction much?
They made a mistake and they could have handled it better, but to call them a rip off merchant, suggest they told blatant lies and refer them to TS is ridiculous. I will not be avoiding them.0 -
I've never had a problem with Argos and used them lots of time. Argos was very helpful to me when my cam screen broke, one week after getting it, they replaced it right away and it wasn't insured0

i always find the staff in argos very helpful and when i have wanted a refund or exchange they have been happy to do either, receipt policy adhered to etc
i find their website one of the best around for navigation and store locations and product availability within certain stores, keep up the good work argos0 -
Not an over reaction, a reaction to very poor service, like I said AVOID ARGOS. AVOID ARGOS. AVOID ARGOS. They know they are being criticised, they know that TS are involved. I will stand up for my rights and not let this country drown in poor customer service.0

Carian just a quick question did you order the right item? As wrong order number means a diff item. lol0

What rights do you think you have? They have already offered you a refund.
You have the right to shop wherever you wish - but you do not have the right to dictate where others choose to go.0 -
Yes I ordered the right item. A refund would have been okay if I could have waited for another but I had waited 3 days for it to go from warehouse to store, so wait another 3 days and then it might still be old model, each trip to store 35 mile round trip, hour of my time. They will pay.
To the Frenchman, I'm warning people of their sharp practice and lack of head office customer skills, you may continue to shop there by all means!!0 -
