BT phone problem

A couple of years ago we bought my mum a BT branded cordless phone, can't remember the model number off hand, but she always had problems with it, specifically the "secrecy" function operating without her pressing the button. She'd be talking away then suddenly realise that the person on the other end couldn't hear her, only ringing off and redialling would reset it.
For a while I just thought she must have been pressing the secrecy button accidentally, but reading the instructions you have to press and hold it for 2 seconds and she definitely wasn't doing that every time, then a few weeks ago I made a call from her house when my mobile battery died and it happened to me too.
So we went down to Currys and I bought her another one, the only one that really suited her was another BT branded phone, the others all had keys that were too small, or too flush with the face, for her to operate easily. We took it home and I set it up for her and all seemed fine. Then a couple of days later she phoned to tell me this new one was doing the same thing!
I haven't had a chance to go over yet and return it to Currys, just wondered if anyone else has had this problem with BT phones though, is this common or just bad luck? It seems a bit more than coincidence that both phones are BT branded ones?

Off the wall question... does she have a hearing aid?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
Not so off the wall, I know where you're coming from, but no she doesn't, that would be too easy!"I ache, therefore I Am."0

We are on out 3rd set of BT phones and never had that issue.
BT1500 corded phone and 6510 cordless phones. No issue like that at all.
FIL has the larger button cordless BT phone and we have never had that issue with his either. Either unlucky or its the models you have chosen?
Same phone as the old one in a new package?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
