Applying for a credit card after house purchase?

I remember reading a negative side to applying DURING the house buying process, which is why we didn't apply for anything when it was going on.

We picked up our keys today, so it's all sorted now (insert relief smiley here!). We were planning on opening a credit card with a lengthy 0% on purchases & using it to buy things such as - fridge, bed, microwave etc.

Just wondering if there's some negative side to this that i can't think of, before i jump in with both feet?

There's no worry about being able to pay it off. We're tight enough with money to make sure we'll be able to do that. It was just to get the card in to help out & give us (e.g.) 18 months to pay it off.

Or are we good to go now we've got the keys?

EDIT: For anyone reading this on the search, i've applied anyway now.
