Shop around for best mortgage - much difference?

Hi,
FTB, myself and my g/f. Scotland. Offer accepted. So we have to now organise mortgage.
My g/f parent’s have convinced her we should just go with Nationwide. She’s got an ISA with them, and we’re going to use that for deposit(10% of value). Also her sister has her mortgage with them and has had a reallygood experience. They also have a branch round the corner from the house itself. And her application is "partial" already - would this affect credit scored if not followed through to completion?
I don’t know anything about mortgages at this point, but this seems a bit daft. Better to shop around for best deal?
Or are mortgages much of a muchness? I think we’ll be going for a 30 year mortgage, but apart from that we’re both a bit clueless.
Any advice would be helpful.
Ta,

Look at compare the meerkats for an indication of the rates and fees you could get."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0

Thanks. Looking on Compare The Market it does appear there's not much difference between lenders. Nationwide are within single figure pounds and pence compared to the best on CTM. Plus they are doing a £500 fee refund for FTBs.0
