I'm no longer selling abroad

Well, even though I predicted it may happen, I forgot about my own prediction
and listed some shoes last w/e, with a starting price of £3, offering international delivery. And they sold - but despite having over 30 watchers and over 100 views, they sold for the starting price. They were bought by a French buyer, so add on postage..... and fvf is £1.11. Then add the paypal fee of 72p. All in all, I'm "up" (if you don't include time and sellotape!) by £1.17  It could be worse I suppose! I want to declutter, so I don't want to start prices too high, but I also don't want it to cost me to de-clutter! So no more international selling for me - it's too much of a faff for very little reward
Oh well, one to chalk up to experience *sigh*.
Whinge over:)

May as well say "I'm not selling in the UK" if you don't set realistic prices to cover your time and postage.0

Shoes aren't great sellers.they have to be good quality leather and immaculate, even then they are hardly worth the effort.0

Do you mean adding to the P&P or start price? If P&P, what you may consider a "realistic price" could lead to stars getting hammered. I once charged P&P at the RM rate only - no extra - and got 3 stars for my trouble  And if you mean adding to the start price, if impulse buyers search by lowest price first, surely that would result in fewer views, therefore less potential buyers?
Out of interest, what do others charge for packing etc above the postage rate? That was my thought. Given the only buyer was in France cutting that market out is likely to lose out more.
I see your point. I've stopped sulking now
so can see I'd be daft to reduce the number of potential buyers. Just annoyed that the those who benefit the most are ebay and RM  It should be me!!:rotfl:Shame there's no alternative - for me at least. 0 -
It's up to you what you set yours at. I set mine as cost of stamp plus cost of posting. I get free listings through my shop which pretty much offset the FVF charged on postage.0

Second hand shoes (or even new ones!) are the one thing I would never buy on Ebay. Ew.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
My postage charges used to be the cost of the actual postage plus the price of the padded or cardboard envelope that I post my items in (I sell a lot of books and magazines). I always try/tried to keep my postage costs as low as possible. However since Ebay started charging fees on the postage price, plus the charge that Paypal charge I don't do that anymore. I was finding that sometimes the cost of the fees was actually MORE than what I was actually getting for the item I had sold.
I now charge the actual postage price, plus the cost of the envelope (about 25p) plus 10% to cover the Ebay fee, plus 10% to cover the paypal fee. I'm aware that this adds up (especially for parcels abroad) but I don't see why I should be out of pocket because of the additional fees.0 -

:rotfl:It's very tempting! I'm about due for a new pair of slippers - wonder how much I could get for the old ones :rotfl:Obviously_the_best wrote: »Or you can make far more money with a dirty, completely ruined pair. Take a search.0
