Thailand - Declined cards because of PIN Bypass

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue in Thailand or anyone else in Asia.

You go to use a card and the merchant has a chip terminal (Doesn't apply to swipe/sign terminals) the merchant inserts it and then presses PIN Bypass straight away, causing the transaction to decline (After a bit of reading most UK issuers auto decline these PIN Bypass transactions). The problem I encountered was that many places in Bangkok were reluctant to let me enter my PIN (Or just didn't understand me).

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know of any issuers that don't auto block these PIN Bypass transactions?

I have also encountered this in Australia when in restaurants.
