Freelance fee

In my working life I've always worked for someone else and so wages are wages. I'm now responding to an advert for a role that I always enjoy doing and the company are searching for a freelance. I want to do this role so I've opened my ammunition locker.
I know the range of wages that are normally offered/required for these roles and, due to a pension or two, I know my financial requirements will undercut others. Do I mention it in my covering letter to help my cause or do I leave it and risk not being approached. ?
Thanks

Does the advert request that you stipulate a required rate?
You could mention it and I guess it depends on the employer/ hiring manager on if they consider it a positive or negative thing.
For example I hire contractor BAs and we will pay them £400-£500 a day net. It doesnt really bother me to much where in that range their requirements are as long as their level of experience matches where they are in the range. I won't hire someone who's not quiet as good as the next person because they are going to cost me £50 a day less.
Where you have a large number of people doing the same job then the cost saving may be a little more material as you could potentially use the extra heads that it would afford you - though most places I've been budget not only for cost but number of heads so underspending on salary/ day rate doesnt actually allow you to get more bums on seats0
