Loan for an Agency worker ?

My daughter who is 20 works as a nursery nurse as a bank/contract staff. She works on average around 40+ hours a week and brings home around £600. She has no credit card etc so no credit history

Her current car is on its last legs and I really dont have the money to get her a new one.

Where can I go to get a loan of say £5000. She has approached the halifax ( her bank ) and they say she is not eligible and when I look at most of the common loan sites ( moneysupermarket etc ) they indicate her chances are low.

CarFinance247 state on their site they do deal with agency workers but i know nothing about them

Hopefully someone can help

Thanks

Has she nothing on her credit reports at all?

    No phone contract or anything?

Is she on the electoral roll?

Did her bank expand on why she was no eligible with them? would they lend if it was a smaller amount?

How much can she afford in repayments a month (or afford to save for a new one)?

Why does she need £5k for a car?

IMHO I honestly believe taking out a 5k car loan at 20 years old is ludicrous which I bet will be a 60 month job.
At 20 years old a 10 year old car would be sufficient for around a 1k.

Get a cheap used car, no need to spend that amount especially on a low income.

1 weeks wages will be enough to get something that will last if looked after whilst she saves for something newer.

How much does she save a week from her £600?

  • Yes I would also recommend you to buy a used car. You can easily get that from a reliable source. Sometimes you get a great deal at a very low cost. And also I don’t find anything unusual in using a second hand car.

I was reading it as though she was taking home £600 per MONTH, not per week?

That would put her on about £3.50 per hour, which doesn't seem very likely.
