Payroll Job

Hello there

I Currently work in payroll and am on £15000 before tax

I want to try and get a rise, I currently process payroll for around 300 people each week using Sage payroll,

I also deal with all there sickness forms and holiday forms
starters and leavers, the full lot of payroll duties.

I don't just enter numbers onto a computer all day (well I do :))

I also manage the auto enrolment pensions that's just come into play, its a lot of work due to the number of staff we have

I am grateful to have a job but I do feel I am underpaid, work just outside London

I feel I should be on at least £18000

any advice on how to get that without directly asking for a raise

Thank you

Look at like for like jobs in the same town you work in and see what they are paying. In London you can get about £24-28k for something like this.

  • I don't see many payroll jobs advertised close to me really on the universal jobmatch site and im sceptical about things listed on jobsite ect

Would I be better going into accountancy, is it much different from payrolo?

    Why look on the UJM????

Accountancy is noting like payroll but you can do the two together.

  • I presumed they were directly from the employer, rather then agency's??

LOL you thought jobs on UJM are direct jobs with employers and OTHER sites aren't? WRONG!!

There are 1,000's or THIRD PARTIES advertising on there and they are not direct.

No real big company is going to advertise on there direct at all

Since the UJM switch I have not seen one direct role on there that I would apply to.

You need to look for companies advertising on say Totaljobs, Reed, GAAPWEB, CityJobs, etc and see what they are paying or call an agency and see what they say
