Whats the easiest way to watermark photos?

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/picture-manager-watermark.html

Is possibly the easiest - instead of using the camera logo in the corner, the picture has your eBay ID.

The option is explained further in http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/picture-manager-upload.html - click the tick box when uploading pictures to show the user ID

There is a piece of software that can be downloaded from http://www.isdntek.com/noclick.htm that places a clear image over your genuine picture - if any drags and drops, or right clicks, or tries to link to it, all they will get is a see thru image.

Looks good. But won't stop Apple Mac users - although there's not that many of us and I like to think that apple mac users wouldn't be the type of people who would steal pictures. Suppose that makes me a platform snob :D

Likewise with text you've written - insert a few typos or made up words so you can easily search for purloined copies.

Are you talking about the copy from your actual listing description?

Or the alternative text you can put in when an image loads (i.e for blind people etc). That would be good if it worked but thinking if you download someones image that alternative text wouldn't come with it because it's html???

If it's the former try putting "embiggened" in your listings.
It means to increase in size. The word doesn't actually exist but a friend of mine when we were working nightshifts with lots of poles, russians etc used to drop non existent english words into conversations. To see if he could get these non native english speakers using them.
Embiggened really took off and by time we left the company everyone was using it:
"Could you embiggen this by 120% on the photocopier for me please?" ;)

If you want to add watermarks to your pictures before uploading to Auctiva (or other host), I can recommend Picture Shark (http://www.picture-shark.com/) which I use for this.

Its free, easy to use and once set up will do batches of pictures (e.g. contents of a directory) in seconds. I just edit my pictures then run them through this before upload. Since I've done this I've not had any pictures 'borrowed' - as I use big clear pictures they seemed to turn up on other's listings all too frequently.

    HTH.
