websites where you can bid for small local jobs and tasks

Hi
I saw a feature on tv a few months ago about people who had small tasks or jobs to be fulfilled and they would place an advert on a website where traders could bid on the jobs.
the person placing the adverts could then decide who they wanted to do the job based on cost , experience or whatever. things as basic as an old lady wanting someone to go up into her loft to retrieve a box, to a guy wanting his fence painted.
I didn't catch the name of the website concerned, and would very much like to find out.
would anyone who knows please let me know.
many thanks
