Tracking down a lost Pension scheme after death

Hi All,
Wonder if you can help.
5 years ago, my Mum passed away. She had breast cancer, and was 50 years of age. She had been an Air Hostess most of her life, but was retired due to ill health at time of death.
I registered her death and am noted on the death certificate as next of kin. The Executor of the Will was a friend of Mum's whom she appointed, but after her death opted to forgo this task due to family disagreements, and he decided to leave the tasks of Mum's estates to immediate family.
I helped close her credit and debit cards, settle bills and sell her car. I did not touch her pensions, as as far as I knew, she didn't have one. I was 21 when this happened, so not particularly wise, and I could have benefited from some help from my Mother's so called 'friend' and executor. There was nobody around at that time who could have helped me.
It has dawned on me now, that after many years of service my Mum would have been entitled to a pension through a number of airlines she worked for, my Dad has agreed that she was paying into one of these schemes when they were married some twenty years earlier. They were divorced acrimoniously before she passed away.
I and my two brothers were the sole beneficiaries under her will, so we obviously want to track down any potential pensions which may be owed to us. I have some vague dates and companies she worked for, but how will I go about finding out what, if anything, is owed to her estate, and therefore to us?
Thanks for your help in advance.
