Frustrated!!!

We're almost at the end of the buying and selling process, solicitor is sending out the paperwork early next week. Our buyer has no chain and neither does our seller so it's just us.
Our buyer is being very pushy with wanting to move ASAP, we've even given her our number to try and keep her updated with where we're up to as she's been ringing her solicitor and the estate agent every day. We are also eager to move ASAP but have found out today that the lady that we are buying from is unable / unwilling to move until the middle of next month.
When we went to view the house originally she did say that she would move out whenever and when we visited a week or so ago she said that she could move in with a friend until she could relocate down south.
We don't want to lose our buyer, but because our seller isn't ready then it looks like we're going to have to put our stuff in storage (extra unexpected cost) and stay in my parents boxroom.
Not quite sure what I'm asking but if anyone has any thoughts or advice then it would be appreciated!

    I doubt the buyer would throw away thousands of pounds of surveys, mortgage and legal fees for the sake of 4 weeks... My opinion :)

    I think your seller could get her act together if she wanted to, so I'd put pressure on her to get a date asap and stick to it.
    :heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • It's difficult to put pressure on the seller, though, if they have not really invested in the transaction yet. She may simply not be even wanting to move! This has happened to us; the day before exchange our seller decided she didn't want to move.

    I know it is really stressful, but like said above, the buyer will have spent money on surveys, searches etc so doubt that they would simply walk away over 4 weeks delay. Some years ago the person I was buying from was dithering, similarly to your story, at first they promised that they could get accommodation from work if need be, so could move at my pace, but then started stalling. I didn't get action out of them until I put an offer on another property instead, and it turned out that the solicitor for that seller was the same as 'my' seller's.

    IME it is best to be honest with your buyer and say that the person you are buying from can't move until 4 wks time. Also, if your seller really wants to sell (which you can't ever guarantee!), you could say to them (via solicitors) that if you have to put stuff into storage, you will bill them for this. It might work.
