painting garden fence cheaply

I have some old garden fence that will probably need complete replacement in 5 years time. We just changed two of the posts as they rotted.

So I don't want to spend too much money on paiting it right now.

I recently bought a pressure washer and gave the fence a good clean, it went from grey to golden coloured. Truly remarkable difference.

I wanted to protect it, Iheard that you can use old motor oil to pain garden fences, is that true? If not where can I get some good but cheap wood protector to just give the fence a deeper look.

I'm not interested in staining, it would be best if the protector was clear and allowed the natural colour of the wood through.
