Of course you can, you should WANT to pay for your family instead of expecting tax payers (Aka me) pay for your children.
Some have no choice to be reliant on benefits but when there are options then of course you should increase your income.
I worked for £1 ph for years to pay tax to support others, I did so as once childcare went down wages went up.
So as of last year I'm now on £18 ph after childcare.
It's the long term that you need to consider not short term.
Your tax credits won't be affected this year (unless you earn over £5,000) as there is a £5,000 disregard so not much.
Does your partner work?
If not then under UC, if you don't earn enough depending on age of children she will have conditionality to work.
Far better to start building up your income now if you have the chance.0 -
