Air Canada Rouge, from Edinburgh, Sept 2013 - suggestions!

Hi everyone,
Excited to be booking a trip to Canada and wondered if there was any way to maximise the booking for a big trip. Think we're going to go with Air Canada Rouge, good prices, minimal connection and local to us this end. Going to join star alliance for some FF points. Can't see them on quidco. Booking on cash back credit card.
Anything I've missed? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help :)

The accrual of miles on Rouge is very poor, 400 miles each way from Edinburgh on all but the most expensive fares, so don't book for the points. Very mixed reviews for its first season but its not the same as Air Canada, which I never thought was great anyway. From Edinburgh they are probably your only choice anyway, Air Transat operates from Glasgow but equally gets either rave or abysmal reviews, so if the fare is right. Don't travel expecting luxury and you should be fine.
