Benefits after dismissal

Can i claim JSA after being dismissed for conduct but not GROSS misconduct?

    I think it will have to go to a decision maker and they decide based on the reason you lost the job.

  • To be honest I think it depends on how they are feeling, or how the winds blowing that day whether you get it or not.
    I was dismissed for misconduct and I was honest with them as they do check and I got my J.S.A straight away.
    If you dont get your benefit remember you can appeal and also apply for hardship allowance.

    You can still claim JSA despite being sacked for gross misconduct - officially you can be sanctioned for it, but all cases are dealt with on an individual basis.
    Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.
  • Just be calm, polite and give a reasonable explanation for your own actions.
    Works for me.

    I think they do view conduct and gross misconduct differently, its less of an issue re a sanction if you werent dismissed for gross misconduct and even then, people realise that sometimes employers use the term gross misconduct just as a way of sacking someone and not paying them their notice pay.
