    I'm not certain that this will attract CGT. If the 3 houses are sold then those who profit from the sale would pay income tax on the net amount they receive.

    My advice would be when you get planning permission employ an accountant to advise all 5 family members of the most tax efficient way forward.
    If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
