in Credit cards
Hi
I am a Thai National. Lived in UK for 5 years. Unfortunately due to some problems had to come back to Thailand. But could not be able clear my credit card debt with Barclay's around 7000 GBP.
Now I am in no situation to pay that debt. I am not on job either.
Please advise what should I do. I don't want any trouble either from UK Debt collection agencies. And what are their jurisdiction internationally in debt collection and upto what extent.
Regards

Morally you should probably contact Barclays in the UK to explain the situation and arrange to make at least token payments.
In reality there is nothing that Barclays can do to get you to repay the cash outside of the UK. You might get some contact but there isn't a legal process to enforce the debt outside of the UK.0 -
If you don't pay or acknowledge in writing for 6 years its statute barred and they can't make you pay.
In that time, they can go to court for a CCJ which stays on your file for 6 years but will exist for ever. Normally they have to go ack to court after 6 years to refresh it and explain why they advent enforced it in 6 years. Not normally granted but if you are not here they can't enforce it.
In reality, they probably won't waste the money as it will cost them to go to court with no guarantee of any return on investment.:beer:0 -
