How long after cleaning new slate patio slabs do i have to wait before sealing them?

Help!!!
I have had large amount of slate slabs laid in my back garden. The slabs where sent out with a sealer which i want to use before the slabs are grouted. The problem is the application instructions say to leave 3 days after cleaning before sealing. Where this might be possible indoors, its impossible outdoors on a large patio. Does anyone know what is the minimum time after cleaning before sealing can be done or what is the issue with sealing before the 3 day window as per the application instructions? (bearing in mind this is England and rain is never really far away)

Presumably to allow any surplus water from the cleaning process to evaporate before sealing?No free lunch, and no free laptop
