Odd loan decisions

Ok, so about a year ago I borrowed my now estranged father a spare contract I had (i won'g go into reasons why)

I got it back in February with a shock, the voicemail was full of people asking for me with regards to payday loans, personal finance, credit cards and debt consolidation programs. None of which I applied for!!, So after a lengthy argument with my dad - who I now do not speak to, it turned out he and his wife were using my name trying to get credit. I got an experian credit report and found my score to be in the toilet (it was at a 4 at its lowest! but now on the mend)
So I used their helpline and was given some advice, I wrote a notice of correction so anyone viewing my credit file would see an explaination by me as to what the applications were and I was also advised to put a polite voicemail on the phone to say I wasn't looking for a loan or debt consolidation and that the applications had been done fraudulently and it wasn't me.
So the calls and texts eventually stopped coming, and I got a new phone contract and my husband started using the other.
I had completely fogotten that the voicemail was on the phone and about a week ago my husband applied for a loan through LadderLoans. They were all for it, even so far as to tell him that 'the money was in a queue ready to be transfered'.
Then came a phonecall to say that they were quite disturbed by his voicemail (the one from february i put on) and that because of that, his application had been refered to an underwriter, they asked specific details about the message, and he even said we were both unaware it was even still active, went into great detail as to why it was there and they said the 'new' information would be passed on.
An hour or so later came the 'we are sorry but no loan' email.
When he called to ask for further details into the decision he was told it was due to information received.

Can a loan company chose to say no over a voicemail message??

LadderLoans, why are you after a loan ?

Cut your spending so you have more to throw at any debts you have or save up.

They can do as they wish, it is their money they are lending (or is it borrowing??)

You can see their perspective, they know you must have loans in your name which you aren't repaying hence the voicemail that you are not looking for a loan.

It really doesn't take much to make the decent lenders twitchy.

One search wouldn't hurt so delete the voicemanil and try again elsewhere.
