Wondering if anyone can help me. I took out a secured loan in 2006 and fell into arrears in 2009 when my husband was made redundant. We had to sell out house on a mortgage rescue and our loan with Welcome Finance was taken off secured and made unsecured we never signed any new paperwork. For a few yrs now I tried to make payment but they would not accept it kept saying someone will b in contact with us. The loan is now with a debt collector who has now added a lot of interest on for non payment. Do i have a right to complain to welcome as i tried to pay but would not accept it and now I am left with few thousand in fee's on top of the outstanding balance.

  • Do you have records of trying to make payments?

Have you saved the money you were offering as payment?

I don't think its fair from the sounds of it but have you tried using the search function as I am sure if it's a common approach by these people it will have been raised before.

I have names & dates of when I was trying to make an offer of payment. I was also informed that they were to send me an income & expenditure form but they never did but the loan has now been passed to Experto Credite

You have said conflicting things - first post says you tried to make payment, second post infers you wanted a payment arrangement. These are two different things.

I can't imagine they'd refuse to take your money if you rang to pay, but can see they'd refuse to agree to a reduced payment arrangement without proof of your inability to pay the full amount. If you didn't get the form they said you needed to fill in, did you chase it with them?

But if you're not happy, make a formal complaint to Welcome (you can do this over the phone) and just ask them to investigate for you.
