Wrong Rate Of Pay.

Hi, I have been in my employment now for about two years.
Six months ago I was told by a line leader that for the first four months I was paid the wrong rate of pay ( to high) In fact he tells me that that rate of pay didnt exist. So the company adjusted my pay but to an even higher rate of pay. Now nearly two years on as I say the line leader has told me about all this and says that they will want all the money back.Imeadiatly after he told me this my wages went down by £14 a week. Six months on and I still have not had an official letter to say my wages were going to go down.
Although I have worked here for nearly two yeras I have never been given an employees rule / handbook, or contract!

So you were told you were on the wrong rate of pay that was too high yet when the rate was amended to then pay you yet a higher rate of pay you said nothing for 2 years?

No that's not what I am saying. What I am saying is that I was told all this Six months ago, So when I started about 2 years ago the rate they put me on didn't exist Right, and then about a year down the line we all had a pay increase Right, and then as stated they tell me both rate were wrong (with the first one not even existing on the payroll for anyone) But only six months ago.

Is the reduction in wages to take you to the wage that you should have been on, or is it to also reclaim the overpayment? If it's the latter then it may be an unlawful deduction of wages, as I believe any agreement to allow deductions must be made and signed separately to the standard employment contract.

What did your contract say about salary/rate of pay?

The reduction is to take me to the rate I should be on, But never given anything in writing. I have never been given a Rule book or contract since I started 2 years ago.

So you had no idea at all what you should have been paid? I do find that hard to believe that you got a job and then get paid and have no idea if its correct. What if they were UNDER paying you?

So you have asked for one? A Rule book and a contract?
