Telegraph cucumbers

I have grown Telegraph cucumbers for the first time this summer, and I am very pleased with the results. I am growing them in my Sustead Polytyre gizmos, here's a link to what that looks like, just in case you didn't read the post.

The amounts of cucumbers on each plant is quite high, but I don't know if that is usual for this cucumber.

Picked 9 yesterday, average is 3-5 a day, the dog loves them, neighbours, friends and workmates all take them, most in a tunnel but outdoors two Marketmore are doing wonders. Best year for my crops in the last 10.
  • Crikey telegraph is an very old variety and rarely grown these days its been superseded by F1 varieties and the like that are suposedly much easier to grow, but if you've managed to grow it successfully then well done.

    Blackjack,

I will post a picture of the plant in the polytyre, but I do all my internet stuff in the library, so it will have to wait until tomorrow. I forget the name of the seed company, but it was one of the cheapo brands.

    Blackjack,

I had a look at the seed packet, it's from Country Value, I bought it for 79p, and it's called Telegraph Improved.

Here's the photo that I promised, it was taken this morning.

I've had no end of problems with F1 varieties, but Telegraph has been fab for me last year & this year. I've had 3 off the outside ones so far, with about 6 to be picked in the next week or so.
