Why when I pay BT for a package of broadband, BT vision and landline am I having to spend extra money providing alternatives to all these services as they are unable to provide a service? I had to buy a Dongle to get Broadband as broadband comes down so often and is so slow; my landline is not working at all and when it did it was like being in a wind tunnel so I am having to spend money on my mobile and BT Vision will not work on catch up - nor can I use my Smart TV as broadband not working. Their response is alwasy to blame your equipment - which it is not as I have numerous different machines pcs, tablets and therefore know that it is not an individual machine. They tried to tell me that it was my phone when I could not receive phones and were quick to try and charge me £99 for a visit. I am sick of speaking to the "switch it on and off" brigade which do not know anything.
I want to get out of this system of the cartel of the 3 providers BT, Virgin & Sky; I am happy with the Dongle and it is quite cheap; I can get some good deals on mobile phones; I need some advice on best deal on TV viewing systems; I only watch freeview channels but do like the facility to record and catch up and hiring films online - any advice?? I am retired and really do not wnat to spend more than £35-40 pm. Not very techy so keep it simple please. Thanks

Sorry cannot help with cheap vision packages.
However ALL of your current problems are almost certainly down to a faulty telephone line. Once that is corrected then broadband and vision should return to normality.
What you should do is report your telephone line as a voice fault, noisy if that is what you experience. Before doing that, test from the test socket behind the master socket with a known good phone, if the fault persists then it is outside of your property and the responsibility of BT.
Do not mention broadband or vision or try to report to them, they will only try to give you the run around.0 -

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
