Free ATM New York

Going to New York in a week and have got myself a metro bank card in order to get some cash out.

However, I'm now hearing that most if not all ATMs charge you?

Is this still true? Does anyone know of any that don't? Is there a website that lists them anywhere?

Also, I've heard if you get cashback from shops/supermarkets, then they don't charge you a fee, so is this a possible way of doing it?

Thanks in advance

Wheeler

Please look at my replies to your earlier post and also a similar question in the NY section.

Whilst most of the US banks tend to charge, I've found using the machines at the big Asian banks don't tend to charge. Think Chinatown!

If you can, find a Citizens Bank (big green signs and RBS logo)...it's part of the RBS group and I always use their ATMs when in New York to withdraw.
