Any postgrads (or anyone, actually) at Newcastle University?

I'm off to Newcastle in September to start a Masters but haven't decided what to do for accommodation.
Ideally I'd like to go into private accommodation as my course lasts for 12 months and I understand that accommodation provided for postgrads by the uni is only for 9 months. What are prices like?
I'll be moving up there alone so does anyone know if the University helps new postgrads find houses with like-minded people? Or if the there is an accommodation office that can point me in the right direction? in fact any tips / comments will be greatly appreciated!! Although I've been in this situation before when I did my undergrad degree, I wasn't moving straight into private housing!
While we're on the subject - what's the Uni like? I've heard the nightlife is wild in Geordieland! Any good tips for what to do/see in the city? I've visited briefly but not for long enough to have a proper look around!
Thanks!

There is bound to be an accommodation office although their helpfulness can vary. However the sooner you get in touch with them the more help they will be!
I can't vouch for the nightlife but on one visit I went to a super flea / antique market in an old church and drooled over some wonderful bookcases, it looked as if someone had stripped them out of an old private library. Just as well I was on the train not in a transit van or I'd have mortgaged my soul to buy them...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
My son is in his first year in Newcastle and loves it. He can now COOK. What a wonderful thing this further education is:)
He is staying Richardson Road university flats. Each one has 6 cupboards/bedrooms, a communal kitchen and 1 toilet and shower room.
The accommodation information can be accessed at https://www.ncl.ac.uk/accommodation.
Next year he and 4 friends are moving out to their own place and have already paid their deposit.
They got the new place through https://www.yetholmproperties.co.uk which has 2 offices, 1 in the centre of Newcastle and 1 in the Jesmond area. I think though there are numerous agents with properties available for students and the university accommodation office could point you in the right direction.
As for the night life well all I know is that if you're a drinker you'll be happy. I think the Turbo is very popular (beer and smirnoff ice in 1 glass) YUK!!
My son sends me some very loving texts after a few of those.
Being more serious I think you'll really enjoy Newcastle we have been up there several times and the atmosphere is wonderful (the Geordies are really friendly) and the nightlife plentiful.0
